Steve is a Senior Investment Consultant at Hewitt Ennis Knupp (HEK) and assists plan sponsors with de-risking and asset distribution strategies. He manages the Institutional Annuity Products and Life Insurance Solutions group for HEK. In his role, he is primarily responsible for annuity placements resulting from terminating Defined Benefit plans, lifetime income consultancy for Defined Contribution arrangements, liability de-risking solutions and insurance company creditworthiness analysis. Steve co-leads Hewitt EnnisKnupp’s annuity placement service. In this capacity, Steve works with clients through the annuity purchase process, from monitoring market pricing, facilitating the bid process and placing the annuities with an insurer using a process compliant with the safest available annuity provider requirement of DOL Bulletin 95-1. He recently joined the firm from Hartford Financial Services where he developed, implemented and managed Hartford’s pension risk management businesses. Specifically he helped sponsors manage, mitigate and/or transfer the risks and liabilities arising from their defined benefit pension plans. Steve has amassed over 23 years of sales/sales management, marketing, operations, and administrative experience in the pension business. Before joining The Hartford, he spent 17 years at Citigroup/Travelers Life & Annuity in their Asset Management and Pension Division. Additionally he ran the institutional payout annuity P/L for both Hartford Life and Travelers Life respectively. Steve earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Wesleyan University in Middletown, CT and his Master of Science degree in Financial Management from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
