Michael J. Langan is a consultant with the firm Towers Watson & Co., which was formed by the January 1, 2010 merger of Watson Wyatt Worldwide and Towers Perrin. Mike is an attorney with over thirty years of experience in health law, employee welfare benefits and related public policy issues. His experience includes advising large organizations on the design and administration of employer health and group benefit plans along with related issues under tax law, ERISA and other relevant laws. Prior to joining Towers Perrin, in 1984, Mike was assistant general counsel in the corporate law department of the Prudential Insurance Company of America. Mike has lectured for the Practicing Law Institute, the NYU Tax Institute, the New York and American Bar Associations and other organizations. He is a past Co-Chair of the American Bar Association's National Institute on Health & Welfare Benefit Plans. For over ten years he served as the federal affairs columnist for the Benefits Law Journal. In 2009 Mike delivered the health care reform policy position of the American Benefits Council in testimony before the Education & Labor Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. Mike has a B. A. from King's College, Wilkes-Barre, PA and a J. D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, Newark, New Jersey.
