Senior Actuary, Colorado PERA
Ms. Koren Holden is employed with the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association (Colorado PERA) where she serves as a Senior Actuary. In addition to special projects, she is acts as a liaison with the PERA Board's external actuarial service provider and as an actuarial resource to PERA leadership. Koren also is a member of the team responsible for production of PERA’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR). During 2014/2015 she assisted the PERA Board in the development of a revised Pension Funding Policy, following the guidelines presented in the CCA Public Plans Community’s whitepaper, "Actuarial Funding Policies and Practices for Public Pension Plans."
Prior to joining PERA, Ms. Holden was with Buck where she accumulated over 21 years of experience consulting to various public- and private-sector retirement plans. During the last ten years of her consulting career Koren focused exclusively on public-sector work and the issues that stem from funding pensions within a governmental and often, political arena.
Koren is a past CCA Board member and serves on the CCA's Annual Meeting Program Committee and the Public Plans Community, as well as the Public Plans Committee of the American Academy of Actuaries.
Ms. Holden is a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (FCA), an Enrolled Actuary (EA), and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA). She has a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, a Bachelor of Science in Political Science, and a Minor in Computer Science from the University of Nebraska, Lincoln.
