Lisa is an active volunteer investigating retirement and aging from an actuarial perspective.
Lisa is a member of the CCA's Professionalism Committee since 2022. She is the vice-chair of the Steering Committee for the SOA's Aging and Retirement Strategic Research Program since 2023 and she has been involved with the program's work on Postretirement Needs and Risks since 2015. From 2024 she serves as the chair of the International Actuarial Association's (IAA's) Pension, Benefits and Social Security Forum, and has participated as SOA's delegate since 2020. She is an active participant of the SOA's Retirement Section Council Research Committee. She serves on numerous project oversight groups related to aging and retirement research. She is involved in the development of the SOA's Student Research Case Study Challenge since 2022. She was an elected member of the SOA's Retirement Section from 2019-2022. She previously served as a member of the AAA’s Committee on Professional Responsibility.
Lisa frequently presents at professional conferences.
Lisa retired from full time retirement/postretirement benefit actuarial work in the fall of 2020.
At a Big-Four accounting firm, she was a subject matter specialist consulting on accounting for pensions and other postretirement benefits. As a US national resource, she advised on the accounting implications of employee benefit programs on employer’s and plan's financial statements under FASB, GASB, NAIC, and/or IFRS principles. She led the pensions and other postretirement benefits audit support in the Boston office and supervised pension and other postretirement benefits valuations. She served on the Actuarial Practice Committee which oversees US pension and health and welfare technical and actuarial policies.
Prior to joining the Big-Four accounting firm, she worked on pension plan and postretirement benefit valuations and design as part of the Boston, MA office of a major international actuarial and employee benefits firm. She began her career as an analyst in the pension actuarial consulting group of a major insurance company in Hartford, CT.
