James C. Kokolas, CPA, is a partner in the Washington, DC office of Calibre CPA Group. He has been in public accounting since 1984 and serves as the firm’s Managing Partner. Mr. Kokolas has significant experience providing audit and accounting services to the employee benefit plan and tax exempt community. He has concentrated his career on employee benefit funds, labor organizations, associations, charitable, and educational organizations. Within the firm’s Employee Benefit Fund practice, Jim is considered a specialist in a wide variety of plans which include defined benefit, defined contribution, 403(b), single- and multiemployer, welfare, and training funds. He is in charge of financial and payroll (employer) compliance audits and tax services for organizations with annual budgets ranging from $100,000 to over $300 million, and some with assets in the billions. Jim received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from the University of Maryland in 1983. He is a Certified Public Accountant in the District of Columbia and the state of Maryland, a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Greater Washington Society of Certified Public Accountants, the International Foundation of Employee Benefit Plans, and the National Coordinating Committee for Multiemployer Plans. Mr. Kokolas is a former Director of the Institute of Management Accountants, DC Chapter. He has also been a periodic educational speaker and panelist for the IFEBP at their annual conference.
