Wendy Scaggs is a Senior Healthcare Consultant, Rx and Clinical. She serves clients on a national basis and is associated with GRS’ Dallas, Texas office. Wendy is a registered pharmacist with more than 20 years of clinical pharmacy management and consulting experience. She has worked in a variety of consulting and clinical environments, including healthcare systems, employee benefit plans, clinical units, and pharmacy operations. As a consulting clinical pharmacist, she assists plan sponsors through all phases of PBM procurement (selection/negotiation, transition, implementation, and monitoring); analyzes Rx plan design for cost control and access to proven and necessary therapies; conducts clinical research to provide guidance on drug spend, with an emphasis on specialty and compound drug therapies, and monitors claims data and drug utilization trends for evidence of eligibility (in accordance with the plan) with the goal of eliminating fraud, waste, and abuse. During her career as a clinical pharmacist, Wendy has gained expert knowledge in the areas of compound drug therapies, surgical and post-surgical Rx utilization, hematology, oncology, diabetes, pediatrics, kinetics, immunization, DUR monitoring, interpretation of specialty claims data, patient education, regulatory compliance, and billing practices and policies.
