The Affordable Care Act and the growth of private exchanges have changed the way many Americans purchase health insurance. After a rocky start, public exchange enrollment was higher than many expected. As they gear up for the second year of enrollments, public exchanges and the consumers they serve face new challenges, including renewals and reconciliation of tax credits. Private exchanges are a hot topic among employers. The presenters examine both public and private exchanges. On the public side, experiences to date and expectations for 2015 and beyond are discussed. On the private side, a high-level actuarial perspective on the potential of exchanges for small and large employers is offered.
