Multiemployer Defined Benefit Legislation

The Consolidated and Further Continuing Appropriations Act, 2015 includes the Multiemployer Pension Reform Act of 2014 (MPRA). While repealing the sunset provision of the Pension Protection Act of 2006 (PPA), MPRA also provides other substantial changes impacting multiemployer defined benefit pension plans.
Presenters review the provisions of MPRA including the technical corrections/amendments to PPA, the PBGC-related aspects, and the remediation measures for deeply troubled plans.
A general understanding of PPA and withdrawal liability rules is assumed.
