Chris L. Sipes, FCA, MAAA, President and senior partner of Consulting and Risk Management Services, Inc. (CRMS) is a native of southern Indiana who served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1967 to 1969. He graduated from Anderson University in 1972, received his MA in math and physics from Ball State University in 1973 and completed 40 hours of PhD work at the University of Louisville in Interdisciplinary Studies. Chris started working for Anthem in 1974 with various management responsibilities including 10 years with Kentucky BCBS and 13 years as Vice President and chief actuary of an Anthem owned TPA consulting firm which included 5 years as president of an Indiana subsidiary until it was sold to Anthem. In 1998 he started Consulting and Risk Management Services, Inc. (CRMS) providing a wide range of actuarial, consulting and risk management services related to Health Benefit Plans and other employee benefit programs. Chris has provided actuarial support services to a regional central Kentucky health plan for over 20 years including rate filings, reserve analysis, experience studies and overall management support as well as serving as their appointed actuary. He is a member of the American Academy of Actuaries and a fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries. Specialty areas of practice include risk management of small group, association, PEO and MET blocks of business; actuarial consulting on Taft-Hartley and Davis-Bacon eligibility programs; managed care and provider network arrangements, reinsurance pools and risk placement. He has resided in Versailles, KY with his family since 1988 and has been semi-retired since 2017.
