Charles K. (Chip) Kerby III is an ERISA attorney, and President and CEO of Liberté Group LLC. His 38 years of experience in Washington includes stints as the owner of Liberté Group, a partner with McDermott, Will & Emery, a principal in Mercer’s Washington Resource Group, a senior manager at PriceWaterhouse, an associate at Miller & Chevalier and an assistant branch chief and attorney-advisor in the chief counsel’s office of IRS. Mr. Kerby’s practice is focused on ERISA health and welfare benefit plans, including the following areas of emphasis: tax and ERISA issues associated with consumer-driven health plans; ERISA compliance issues; assistance with IRS, DOL and CMS audits; negotiations with vendors; mitigation of potential health and welfare plan liability; and federal and state initiatives to reform the nation’s healthcare system. He has a J.D. degree cum laude from Washington and Lee University School of Law and a LL.M. degree from Georgetown University Law Center. Mr. Kerby is admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and is a fellow of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. He recently served as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University Law Center and speaks frequently on employee benefit issues.
