Health and Benefits Actuarial Associate, Mercer
Bansi Padalia is an actuary in Mercer’s Health & Benefits consulting practice in Mercer’s Chicago office. Bansi joined Mercer in 2022 and has about six years of health actuarial experience. She works with a diverse group of clients, primarily offering analytic support in health and welfare programs. Bansi’s role responsibilities include interpreting and summarizing claims and utilization data, reviewing current plan designs and evaluating vendor renewals, developing plan design strategies and projecting future health care costs, creating employee contribution strategies, and developing IBNR estimates for self-insured plans.
Bansi graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science in Actuarial Science and a Bachelor of Science in Economics. She is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA), a Chartered Enterprise Risk Analyst (CERA), and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries (MAAA).
Prior to her time at Mercer, she worked at HCSC within the Medicare team, particularly Medicare Part D. This role worked extensively on the Medicare bid process which included includes modeling assumptions for membership, preferred networks, rebates, and formularies. Additionally, she previously spent over two and a half years working as a Health and Benefits Actuarial Analyst at Segal Consulting, where she collaborate on various teams to help clients manage and budget for their employee health benefits through forecasting expected liabilities, calculating reserves, negotiating insurance premiums, and pricing benefit changes.
