Joe is a Director in the Provider Risk Advisory Practice of Optum with over 15 years of experience in the actuarial healthcare industry. With a strong background in traditional actuarial roles, his more recent work has focused on those who deliver healthcare directly. He has worked with health insurance carriers, HMOs, ACOs, hospital systems, and other provider organizations. He assists clients in developing and evaluating strategies in the commercial, Medicare and Medicaid markets. His activities have included: risk analysis and management, pricing and rate development, forecasting, actuarial modeling of medical management programs, Medicare Advantage bid filings, feasibility analysis of participating in various Medicare and Medicaid programs, value-based contract evaluation, cost of care analyses and actuarial cost model development. Joe is an Associate of the Society of Actuaries, and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He graduated from the Pennsylvania State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Actuarial Science.
