Emojoy Brown serves as a Director on BlackRock's Liability Driven Investments team, helping plan sponsors develop asset management strategies to make pension plans more sustainable. Before joining BlackRock, Emojoy was an investments director within UPS 's pension investments group. Her responsibilities included overseeing operations, compliance and accounting for $54 billion invested on behalf of the UPS US pension plans. Emojoy also managed consulting projects such as asset liability modeling and implementing investments which support liability driven investing. Prior to this role, Emojoy was UPS’ corporate actuary, with responsibilities for forecasting, strategic planning and compliance for the company’s compensation and benefit programs. This involved developing strategies around benefit design and delivery, regulatory changes, labor considerations and alignment with the company’s overall financial goals.
Before her time at UPS, Emojoy led the retirement benefits function for Koch Business Solutions, a new shared service organization established to deliver HR services for Koch Industries and its portfolio companies. In this role, she was responsible for standing up the KBS Retirement Programs team, which involved selecting vendors and investments, implementing tools and benefit delivery systems to support Koch’s growing scale, and building out internal teams to support ongoing initiatives. Emojoy also served as an internal consultant for labor negotiations, acquisitions and divestitures and other special projects involving Koch’s retirement programs.
Emojoy earned her credentials as an Associate of the Society of Actuaries and Enrolled Actuary while building her skills as an actuarial consultant at Mercer and Willis Towers Watson. Emojoy holds an MBA from the Georgia Institute of Technology as well as a BA in Mathematics from Northwestern University. Emojoy serves on the advisory board for the Boys and Girls Club of Metro Atlanta and on the Steering Committee for the Women in Consulting Community of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries.
