After more than 20 years of law firm based practice, Chris Murphy established his own law practice in January 2012, continuing his focus on Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits law. In the traditional labor arena, Mr. Murphy has handled a wide range of matters including union organizational issues, NLRB advice and litigation, management and supervisory training, mass picketing and injunction litigation, collective bargaining, grievance administration, and labor arbitration.
Mr. Murphy also has extensive experience in many areas of employment law, including the defense of employment discrimination, wrongful discharge and wage-and-hour claims, drafting employment contracts and separation agreements, disputes concerning restrictive covenants and trade secret issues, drafting employee handbooks and personnel policies, and counseling employers on issues affecting the employment relationship.
Mr. Murphy handled numerous employee benefits matters, ranging from initial plan design and qualification to withdrawal liability disputes. Mr. Murphy regularly counsels employers and multi-employer employee benefit plans on issues of regulatory compliance. He has litigated numerous ERISA, COBRA, and other benefits-related cases, as well.
Mr. Murphy regularly speaks at seminars and training forums to employers on topical labor relations, employment law, and employee benefit issues.
