An accomplished actuarial strategist and nationally recognized expert in shaping effective health care benefit plans, and risk management strategies for large organizations. Leveraging three decades of consulting experience, helping clients to manage risks while striking the optimal balance between plan costs and benefits, while mitigating program risks.
Mark has a long track record of helping clients to improve the overall structure and component elements of their health and welfare benefit plan. His areas of specialty include the following.
• Developing strategic health and welfare benefit plan objectives, strategies, and tactics
• Building detailed financial analyses, including pricing and contribution strategies
• Establishing performance metrics and other measurement criteria for health care networks
• Performing in-depth post-retirement and post-employment welfare benefit valuations
• Developing performance level guarantees and monitoring adherence
Mark was a senior consulting actuary and strategist in Willis Towers Watson’s Health and Group Benefits practice. As team leader and supervising consultant, he provided counsel on health care plan development and risk management strategies to executive teams and HR leaders in some of the world’s largest corporations, as well as in large health care delivery organizations and government agencies.
Prior to Willis Towers Watson, Mark was at Travelers Insurance for nearly a decade where he responsible for managed care pricing for national accounts in the companies Midwestern and Western regions. Mark gained additional risk management and financial modeling experience in the life sciences, financial services, manufacturing, and automotive industry sectors.
Mark has been quoted in Health Leaders, Financial Executive, Money Magazine, The Washington Post, and has appeared on CNN as an expert on Health Care Reform. In addition, he has conducted continuing education sessions for the Society of Actuaries and the Conference of Consulting Actuaries.
