Incredibly Credible Assumptions
June 10, 2015 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM
Private and public plan populations and actuarial assumptions come in all different forms and sizes. For the largest populations, there is significant experience on which to base mortality and other demographic assumptions. But how do smaller plans set these assumptions? In this session, our panelists will share their experience with the assumption setting process. They will discuss the volume of experience needed to create a credible set of data. They will also talk about assumption setting where experience from within and from outside the plan is used. The discussion will touch on the assumption setting principles of the Actuarial Standards of Practice.
