Discipline Process Overview
April 01, 2015 11:30 AM - 12:45 PM
In 2012, after years of study and deliberations, the five major U.S. actuarial organizations (American Academy of Actuaries, ASPPA College of Pension Actuaries, Casualty Actuarial Society, Conference of Consulting Actuaries, and Society of Actuaries) agreed to participate in a Joint Discipline Process to be administered by a Joint Discipline Council. This system was designed to streamline the discipline process with more consistent outcomes when the subject actuary is a member of two or more of the organizations. The presenters provide (1) an overview of the new process, including a summary of the key rules adopted by the JDC and the role of the ABCD; (2) shared experiences related to the first case decided by a Joint Discipline Panel; and (3) discussion of further changes that might be considered to strengthen and further streamline the disciplinary process.
